
Wolves' Michael Sgarbossa Named OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that for the second time in three weeks forward Michael Sgarbossa of the Sudbury Wolves is the OHL Player of the Week after recording eight points in two games scoring three goals and five assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-6 for the week ending March 4.
After being named the OHL's Player of the Month for February, Sgarbossa began the week by recording his first career five-point game at home Friday night in an 8-5 win over the Kitchener Rangers scoring two goals including a third period penalty shot plus three assists as first star of the game. On Saturday night he extended his point-streak to 18 games picking up a goal and two assists as second star of a 4-1 win over the Peterborough Petes to clinch a berth in the Eastern Conference playoffs for the Wolves.
Sgarbossa, a 19-year-old from Campbellville, ON, is playing in his fourth OHL season. Now a Colorado Avalanche prospect, Sgarbossa has a career-high 92 points in 59 games with 44 goals and 48 assists which has him tied for first overall in OHL scoring.
Also considered for the award this week were a pair of Niagara IceDogs Ryan Strome and Freddie Hamilton who each recorded 11 points in three games with Strome picking up five goals and six assists, and Hamilton scoring four times with seven assists. In goal, Petr Mrazek of the Ottawa 67's went 2-0-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .975.
