
Pensacola's Chris Wilson Named SBK Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 21, 2012) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Chris Wilson of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the SBK Player of the Week for February 13-19.
In earning the weekly honor for the second time this season, Wilson scored six goals, including three on the power play, as he led Pensacola a pair of wins and helped the Ice Flyers maintain their hold on fourth place in the SPHL standings.
On Thursday, Wilson scored just 56 seconds after the opening face-off and added a second goal one minute later as the Ice Flyers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead en route to a 5-3 win over Louisiana. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native came back on Saturday with a four-goal night, leading Pensacola to a 5-2 win over the Mississippi Surge. For the week, Wilson scored six of Pensacola's 10 goals.
Wilson etched his name in the record books on February 2 by scoring five goals in Pensacola's 8-1 win at Fayetteville, joining Rob Sich and Steve Roberts as the only SPHL players to score five goals in a single game. Last season, Wilson led the SPHL in goals (39), game-winning goals (9) and shorthanded goals (4 - tied) and was second in points (71), earning him Rookie of the Year and All-SPHL first team honors.
