Mississippi Surge News Release


Mardi Gras: The Mississippi Surge return home Friday for the annual Mardi Gras parade on ice, and offering a special Family Four Pack when the Pensacola Ice Flyers visit at 7:05 p.m.. The Family Four Pack is four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks, and a large tub of popcorn for only $60. The Surge will travel to Columbus for a 6:30 p.m. game on Saturday and return home Sunday to face the Mississippi RiverKings at 5:05 p.m.

Nice Duds: Not only will the Surge offer the Family Four Pack for Friday, the players will also be wearing the special Bay Tobacco and Beer Mardi Gras jerseys for the game. The jerseys will be auctioned immediately after the game.

Seeing Red: For Sunday's game, Whole Health Chiropractic is helping the Surge spotlight Heart Healthiness with Red in the Rink. The Surge is teaming with the American Heart Association to promote heart health, as part of national heart month.

Good Week: The Surge took two of its three games last week, and has won seven of its last nine games. The Surge beat the Mississippi RiverKings 2-1 on Tuesday, beat Columbus 4-1 on Thursday, and lost 3-1 at Louisiana on Friday.

Good Month: Goaltender Kiefer Smiley was named the Southern Professional Hockey League's/ SBK Goaltender of the Month for January. Smiley had a 6-2-1 record with a 2.88 goals against average and .897 save percentage for the month. He also started a game that Corey Milan got the win, as the Surge went 7-2-2 in January.
