CHARLOTTE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced it has suspended Pensacola Ice Flyers forward Chris Wilson for two games for an incident in the Ice Flyers' game against Augusta on Saturday, January 21.
At the 0:35 mark of the third period, Wilson delivered a check to an Augusta player where his opponent's head was the primary point of contact. "While the check was not penalized, the Augusta player was in a vulnerable position at the time of the check, resulting in direct contact to the head," stated SPHL Vice President Doug Price.
Wilson will miss Pensacola's games against Mississippi (Surge) on January 24 and 27.
