Snakes' Goaltender Vigier Named SBK Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 24, 2012) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Ian Vigier of the Columbus Cottonmouths is the SBK Player of the Week for January 16-22.

Vigier led the Cottonmouths to a home-and-home sweep of second-place Knoxville last weekend, posting a 1.95 goals against average and a save percentage of .918 in the two wins.

On Friday, the native of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, Manitoba stopped 27 of 28 Ice Bears' shots in a 5-1 win in Knoxville. Vigier followed that up Saturday with an 18-save performance in a 4-3 overtime win over the Ice Bears. The pair of wins moved Columbus to within three points of second place in the SPHL standings.

Vigier, now in his fifth season, has spent his entire professional career in Columbus. Last season, Vigier recorded the lowest goals against average of his professional career at 2.79. Over the past four seasons, he has compiled a 64-51-14 regular season record and averaged a 2.98 goals against average and .914 save percentage. Currently, Vigier is tied for the league lead in shutouts (2), is tied for second with 11 wins and is third with a 2.55 goals against average.
