RiverKings Mark Magnowski Named SBK Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 18, 2012) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Mark Magnowski of the Mississippi RiverKings is the SBK Player of the Week for January 9-15.

Magnowski scored three goals, including one game-winner, and added an assist in leading the RiverKings to a pair of road wins at Fayetteville last week.

On Friday, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native scored a pair of goals in Mississippi's 5-2 win over the FireAntz. After assisting on the first goal of the game the following night, Magnowski scored the game-winner just 1:31 into overtime as Mississippi edged Fayetteville 5-4 on Saturday, extending the RiverKings' road winning streak to three games.

Magnowski played his collegiate hockey at Princeton, where he majored in economics. In four seasons with the Tigers, he scored 87 points in 127 games. Prior to that, Magnowski spent two seasons in the United States Hockey League and was selected to play in the USHL All-Star Game.
