Olympiques Wrap up Trade Period

Gatineau - The Gatineau Olympiques have taken a turn towards the youth following the trade period that ended Saturday. Indeed, Gatineau team traded a few veterans in return for young players and a few draft picks.

Here is a review of all the trades that took place:

- First the Olympiques got a 19 years old forward Olivier Daoust from Moncton in return for a 3rd round pick in 2012 (BAC)

- The same day, they acquired the defenseman of 19 years old Garrett Clarke from the Titan of Acadie Bathurst in return for a 5th round pick (PEI) and a 9th round pick in 2012.

- Subsequently, Richard Castonguay took the road towards Val-d'Or against a 9th round pick in 2012.

- At the beginning of their trip in the Maritimes, the Olympiques acquired the 17 years old defenseman, Mickael Beauregard of Chicoutimi and several draft picks (1st & 2nd round picks in 2012, 3rd & 4th round picks in 2013) in exchange for the veterans Christian Ouellet and Mathieu Gagnon.

- The 16 years old defenseman Mathieu Boily also joins the Olympiques from Quebec with a 7th round pick in 2013. In return, the Gatineau gave to Québec a 4th round pick in 2012.

- Finally, Jean-Gabriel Pageau took the road towards Chicoutimi in return for a 16 years old goalie Alexandre Michaud, a 1st round pick in 2013 (BLB) and the 1st and 2nd round picks in 2014.

Please also note that the forwards Robert Pelletier and Zachary Whitlock and the defenseman Anthony Cortese will finish the season in Gatineau.

The next home game of the Olympiques will be held next Friday, January 13th at 7h30pm while the Drakkar of Baie-Comeau will be the visitors at the Robert-Guertin Center.
