
Bighorns Acquire Bobby Simmons

RENO, NEV.- The Reno Bighorns have acquired NBA veteran Bobby Simmons, it was announced today. In order to make room on the roster, the team waived forward Taj McCullough.
Simmons returns to the Bighorns after playing 15 games with the team last season, averaging 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. The 2005 NBA Most Improved Player, Simmons played nine seasons in the NBA averaging 9.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, including 16.4 points per game during his breakout 2004-2005 season.
McCullough played 11 games with the Bighorns this season, averaging 14.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. McCullough was the Erie Bayhawks second round draft pick (28th overall) in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft. He was later moved to Reno in the trade that sent Donald Sloan to the Bayhawks and brought Blake Ahearn to Reno.
Fans can see Simmons in action as the Bighorns take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, NBA D-League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks, on January 3rd at the Reno Events Center.
