Mississippi Surge News Release
The Mississippi Surge is putting a twist on the first Hockey Happy Hour of 2012.
Coach Jeff Bes and Surge players will be on hand at Bob's Burger Factory at the corner of Pass and Courthouse Roads in Gulfport during the afternoon of Monday January 2, instead of the evening Hockey Happy Hour. The change is to allow fans to join the team while watching the NHL Winter Classic game between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers.
"With Monday being a legal holiday, in obeservance of New Year's, we thought this would be a good opportunity to do something different with our Hockey Happy Hour. We know a lot of people are off work and so fany fans will be watching the Winter Classic anyway, so it's a perfect combination," Surge vice-president of communications Steve McCall said. "Bob's is a perfect lunch spot, so it should be a lot of fun. We'll give away some prizes and have some contests to keep things lively during the intermission."
While the Winter Classic begins at noon, Surge players are expected to begin arriving around 12:30 p.m. following practice at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. But fans will be able to visit with players while having lunch.
The Surge visits the Mississippi RiverKings Tuesday and play at Knoxville on Thursday before returning home to host Knoxville on Friday at 7:05 p.m.
