Ray Ortiz, who is a former star player from St Mary's High School, and current assistant coach in Jersey City, has been added to the Express Coaching Staff, for the remainder of the season.
"I would like to take this opportunity to embrace the great opportunity to assist the Jersey Express Professional Basketball Team. It is with great interest that I will have the opportunity to provide my basketball expertise, which I have a great passion for. I have roots in Jersey City, and I hope to solicit and engage great fan support from the community of Jersey City. I am sincerely thankful for this opportunity; stated Ortiz.
This will be the 1st visit to Jersey City for the Top Ballerz, with the teams holding a 1-1 series record. The Express are coming off back-to-back wins over NYC, and Staten Island.
We'll feature a halftime game with two youth teams from Jersey City, coordinated by Mr. Franklin Walker, Interim Superintendent of Jersey City Public Schools. The Express are offering FREE admission to ALL Jersey City Public School Students, accompanied by an adult with paid admission, for the entire season.
The Express are featuring six players averaging double figures in points per game, and offer one of the most exciting offenses in the ABA, as they average 115.0 points per contest. Individual game tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
Tickets are available at the door, or on the team website @ www.jerseyexpress.net.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
