Sacramento's offense will once again will be paced by workhorse running back Cory Ross, the reigning UFL Offensive Player of the Year. There are two new wide receivers, led by ex-Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick Reggie Williams, and two new tight ends among the receivers. The Mountain Lions, however, need to figure out who their starting quarterback is going to be among ex-Cincinnati Bengal Jordan Palmer and rookies Ryan Colburn (Fresno State) and McLeod Bethel-Thompson (Sacramento State). The offensive line has 2010 starters back in Tyler Luellen (left tackle), Sam Lightbody (right tackle) and Erik Robertson and Matt Spanos (right guards) back.

The Mountain Lions defense has depth at every level. Defensive end Josh Savage, one of the top pass rushers in the UFL in 2010, has a chance to be so again in 2011, and opposing teams will have trouble running up the middle with tackles Jonas Seawright (330 pounds) and Jason Stewart (320) there. Linebacker has always been a strength for the franchise, and should be again with starters Michael Tauiliili and Dontarrious Thomas back, as well as four backups. Sacramento's secondary, which has had just five interceptions in two seasons, has five new faces.

Sacramento's entire specialist crew, including strong-legged kicker Fabrizio Scaccia, is back, as is return dynamo Aaron Woods. The Mountain Lions look to have a sound kicking game this fall.

VIRGINIA DESTROYERS

Quarterbacks (3) - Chris Greisen, Mike McMahon and Derek Devine.

Running backs (5) - Dominic Rhodes, Adrian Peterson, Clifton Smith, Jason Davis and Billy Latsko.

Wide receivers (6) - Aundrae Allison, Cortez Hankton, Calvin Russell, Jamarko Simmons, John Standeford and Huey Whittaker.

Tight ends (2) - Ronnie Ghent and Michael Matthews.

Offensive linemen (9) - Adrien Clarke, Anthony Davis, Xavier Fulton, Na'Shan Goddard, Brett Helms, Shane Olivea, Jonathan Palmer, Cole Pemberton and Kyle Young.

Defensive linemen (8) - Jay Alford, McKinley Boykin, Antwon Burton, Joe Clermond, Orien Harris, Quentin Moses, Marques Murrell and Jeremy Navarre.

Linebackers (6) - Diyral Briggs, Savion Frazier, Neal Howey, Kenny Ingram, Terrence Melton and Tony Taylor.

Defensive backs (9) - Tra Battle, Ahmad Carroll, Jerome Carter, Jason Horton, Keiwan Ratliff, Aaron Rouse, Darius Vinnett, Kyle Whitehurst and DeAngelo Willingham.

Kicker (1) - Delbert Alvarado.

Punter (1) - Matt Henry.

Long snapper (1) - Ryan Senser.

Virginia has a boatload of veteran experience leading its offense in quarterback Chris Greisen, running backs Dominic Rhodes and Adrian Peterson and wide receivers Cortez Hankton, Calvin Russell and John Standeford. The Destroyers also have experience in tight ends Ronnie Ghent and Michael Matthews, as well as five ex-Florida Tuskers along the offensive line. Virginia has 2010 Tuskers starters back at left guard, right guard and right tackle.

The Destroyers defensive line boasts 2010 UFL sack leader Joe Clermond at defensive end, underrated defensive tackle McKinley Boykin and former NFLers Jay Alford, Orien Harris, Quentin Moses, Marques Murrell and Jeremy Navarre. At linebacker, second-year UFLer Tony Taylor has the chance to become a star. And in the secondary, the veteran-laden group features former Packer first-round pick Ahmad Carroll and ex-NFLer Keiwan Ratliff at cornerback, and former Virginia Tech standout Aaron Rouse at safety.

Virginia's return game will be sound with ex-Pro Bowler Clifton Smith in the fold, while the kicking game, with kicker Delbert Alvarado and punter Matt Henry, is new to the professional level.
