Mallards to Host Preseason Ice Breaker

MOLINE, Ill. (August 8, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced the Mallards will host the preseason Ice Breaker Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16 . The Ice Breaker will feature the Mallards, Bloomington Blaze, Evansville IceMen and Missouri Mavericks clashing in exhibition action at the i wireless Center.

"The Mallards are excited to host something unique and a little different to get the fans primed for the start of the season. This will be an opportunity to see four CHL teams at a time when players are fighting for final roster spots, teams are making tough roster decisions and competition will be at its highest level," said Byron Rucker, senior consultant for CLUB 9 SPORTS, the Mallards' ownership group. "We are thankful to the Blaze, IceMen and Mavericks for agreeing to be a part of this new and unique event. It should be fun for our fans to see the Mallards in a competitive situation at the i wireless Center."

October 15 will see a battle between the Mallards and the IceMen at 4:00 p.m. kick-off a double header that will conclude with the Mavericks and Blaze meeting at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, action will start at 10:00 a.m. with a special competitive practice session featuring the Mallards and Mavericks. At 1:00 p.m., the Flock will take on Missouri in the final game of the weekend.

Ice Breaker tickets will be available to the general public at the door for $5 per day. Admission to the Ice Breaker is free for Mallards season ticket holders.
