Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (July 19, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have re-signed left wing Obi Aduba. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced. In addition, it was further announced that Aduba will take part in the training camp of the American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons this fall.

Aduba, 27, returns for a third season with the Mallards after finishing last year tied for the team lead in points (51). The Medfield, Massachusetts native last season scored 21 goals and added 30 assists while also leading the Mallards with eight power play goals.

Aduba did not miss a game in either of his first two seasons with the Mallards. Last year he was one of just three Mallards to skate in each of the Flock's 66 regular season contests.

"It's a no brainer to re-sign your leading point scorer and a guy who played every game last season," said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell. "I would also like to wish Obi good luck with his AHL tryout in Springfield."

Aduba is spending the summer playing for the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League. He has scored 10 goals and notched 27 points in 21 games with the first place Ice.

Aduba's first season in the Quad Cities- 2009-10- saw him score 13 times and produce 28 points in 76 games. Aduba joined the Mallards after scoring 28 goals and totaling 61 points in 47 games with the Danbury Mad Hatters of the Eastern Professional Hockey League in 2008-09. He also played one game with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL in 2008-09. The 6' 1", 210-pound Aduba played three seasons at Massachusetts-Amherst. He scored twice and recorded nine points in 62 games as a collegian.

Aduba joins Jared Brown, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Jason Kostadine, Brandon Marino and Darren McMillan to bring the number of signings announced by the Mallards for the 2011-12 season to eight.

Season tickets for the Flock's 2011-12 campaign are now on sale. Mallard season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com.
