
Iowa Defeats Rio Grande Valley, 123-106, in Game 1 of NBA D-League Finals

HIDALGO, TEXAS, April 24, 2011 - Led by point guard Curtis Stinson's 29 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, the top-seeded Iowa Energy defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 123-106, on Sunday in Game 1 of the NBA Development League Finals. Iowa can close out the best-of-three series and win its first NBA Development League Championship with a win in Game 2 on Wed., April 27 in Des Moines.
Moses Ehambe scored 26 points for the Energy, while Stefhon Hannah added 20 points and 10 assists. Michael Haynes also scored 18 points for the Energy. Stinson, the league MVP, shot 10-of-19 from the field and 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
Mouhammad Faye led the defending-champion Vipers with 22 points and nine rebounds. Jerel McNeal added 20 points and eight rebounds, while Richard Roby chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds for Rio Grande Valley.
Wednesday's Game 2 will tip at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on VERSUS.
