SAVANNAH, GA - Alonzo Harris hit for the cycle to help the Sand Gnats, earn a 4-4 tie with the single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday afternoon in spring training action in Port St. Lucie, FL. Harris doubled in the third inning, reached on a push-bunt single down the first base line in the sixth, hit a solo home run in the eighth and tripled in the ninth. Harris played in 105 games for Savannah in 2010, hitting 18 doubles, six triples and five home runs.

The Gnats tied the game in the top of the ninth on a two-run home run by 3B Joe Bonfe, who was 3-for-3 with a walk. The 23-year old Bonfe hit .326/.388/.426 (AVG/OBP/SLG) in 72 games for SSA Brooklyn of the New York-Penn League in 2010.

RHP Gonzalez Germen started, striking out five batters in four scoreless innings, yielding just a walk and two hits. Germen made 10 starts for rookie-level Kingsport in the Appalachian League last year, striking out 54 and walking 11 in 61 innings on his way to a 3.64 ERA before ending the year with two starts for the Gnats.

Germen was followed by three relievers who finished the 2010 season with Savannah: RHP Guillaume Leduc was touched for three runs, only one of which was earned, in his two innings, RHP Luis Rojas threw a perfect inning with one strikeout and RHP Gabriel Zavala gave up one run and struck out one in his two innings.

The Gnats have a camp day on Thursday.
