Legends Fall Despite Huge Third Quarter Run

Frisco, TX (February 6, 2011) - The Texas Legends lost a tough game to the Erie BayHawks 111-106 on Sunday afternoon at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.
Similar to last night's upset over Tulsa, the Legends and BayHawks played evenly through much of the first half.
However, trailing 43-42 with 5:45 remaining in the second quarter, Erie would go on a 15-4 run to take a 10-point lead. The BayHawks ended up taking an eight-point lead into the break, 59-51.
Texas' Sean Williams had 11 points in the opening half, while Blake Ahearn led four double-digit scorers for Erie in the first half with 14.
Erie came out on fire in the second half, making five of their first six shots and outscoring the Legends 14-6, to take their largest lead of the game at 16. Texas responded in a huge way and outscored Erie 31-12 to end the third quarter with a three-point lead, 88-85.
The Legends maintained the lead in the fourth until a 9-2 run by Erie tied the game at 104 with under a minute to go in the game.
Ivan Johnson hit one of two free throws with 56.1 second left to give the BayHawks the lead. After a Joe Alexander offensive foul, Ivan Johnson hit a jumper to make it a three-point Erie lead. With a chance to tie the game, a Justin Dentmon 3-pointer fell short, conserving the win for the BayHawks.
Dentmon led the Legends with 19 points, while Ahearn led all scorers with 31. Tasmin Mitchell added 28 in the win for Erie.
The Legends fell to 16-15 after the loss, while the BayHawks improved to 20-9.
Texas will have the next four days off before heading to California for a three-game series with the Bakersfield Jam beginning on Friday night and continuing on Saturday and Monday. Tip-off for all three games is set for 9:00 PM.
