
Skyforce Suffers Last-Second Defeat On Christmas Night

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Dec. 25, 2010) - The Dakota Wizards defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 87-86 at the Sioux Falls Arena on Saturday night in front of a festive Christmas Night crowd of 4,025 fans. Newly acquired guard Anthony Goods converted a driving lay-up with 0.8 seconds and Anthony Harris missed a contested shot at the buzzer as Dakota improved to 3-1 in Christmas games in Sioux Falls.
The game was close throughout the first half and Dakota (4-9) led 49-47 at halftime behind the strong play of Memphis Grizzlies assignee DeMarre Carroll (13 points, 11 rebounds).
Sioux Falls (2-10) trailed by 10 points (83-73) with 7:02 to go in the game but went on an 11-0 run capitalized by a 3-point play from Anthony Mason, Jr. to take an 84-83 lead. Darren Cooper finished a lay-up in traffic and was fouled with 58.5 seconds left but missed the subsequent free throw as Dakota led 85-84. Chris McCray calmly knocked down two free throws with 4.4 seconds on the clock to give Sioux Falls an 86-85 edge before Goods' late game heroics.
Carroll continued his strong play with game-highs in points (23) and rebounds (15). Chris Johnson and Renaldo Major added 14 points each.
Mason, Jr. posted his fourth double-double of the young season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Harris contributed 17 points while Raymond Sykes posted 14 points and nine rebounds.
Dakota travels to Erie for back-to-back games against the BayHawks on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT. Sioux Falls visits Rio Grande Valley for back-to-back games with the Vipers on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. CT.
