Toronto Raptors Assign Davis to NBA D-League Affiliate Erie BayHawks
Published on November 22, 2010 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
NEW YORK, Nov. 22, 2010 - Toronto Raptors forward Ed Davis was assigned to the Erie BayHawks, the Raptors' NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment marks the fifth time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Davis, a rookie out of North Carolina.
Davis (6-10, 225) will join the BayHawks on a short-term rehabilitation and conditioning assignment. Davis has been cleared to resume game action after sustaining a meniscus tear in his right knee before the start of training camp. He will be placed on Toronto's inactive list, but will remain on the team's roster.
The Raptors chose Davis, 21, with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. In the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, Davis ranked among Toronto's leaders in scoring (3rd, 12.6 ppg), rebounding (2nd, 6.0 rpg), and tied for the team lead with nine blocks. A member of North Carolina's 2009 National Championship team, Davis averaged 9.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 61 games over two seasons with the Tar Heels. Davis also became the third-fastest North Carolina player to block 100 shots (51 games), behind only Rasheed Wallace (47) and Sam Perkins (50).
Davis joins fellow Raptors assignee Solomon Alabi on the BayHawks, who play next at Fort Wayne on Friday, Nov. 26. Raptors fans can keep track of Davis, Alabi and the Erie BayHawks by logging onto nba.com/dleague to watch all of the BayHawks games live, online, for free.
