(Chicago, IL): The Saint John Mill Rats selected former Georgetown Hoya 6'7 235 lb forward Marc Egerson with the 4th overall pick in the Premier Basketball League Draft.

Egerson played two seasons at Georgetown from 2005-2007, which included a trip as a Hoya to the NCAA Final Four in 2007. He subsequently transferred to the University of Delaware to be close to home. At Delaware, Egerson averaged 15.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game and was named First Team All-CAA (Colonial Athletic Conference). He worked out for Doc Rivers in a predraft camp with the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2009. Going undrafted, Marc took his talents to Ironi Nahariya in the Israeli Premier League.

The Mill Rats are a fourth year professional basketball franchise based in Saint John, New Brunswick (Canada). This season will be their first in Saint John where they will play their home games at the 6,600 seat Harbour Station arena. The Mill Rats are a member of the Premier Basketball League.

The PBL draft was held on Thursday October 28th at Sox Park (U.S. Cellular Field) in Chicago, IL. Representing the Mill Rats organization at the draft was Mill Rats President and General Manager Ian McCarthy and newly-named Head Coach Jaren Jackson.

"Marc is extremely skilled and talented for a player of his size and strength," explained McCarthy. "We were thrilled to be able to nab him with our first pick and fully expect him to be an impact player for the Mill Rats this season."

With their second round pick (16th overall), Saint John drafted 6'4 guard Ridley Johnson from the University of Toledo (OH). Johnson was a star player at Charlestown High School in Boston and was featured in the book 'The Assist' by Neil Swidey. Following high school, Johnson played four years of college ball for the Division 1 Rockets. Johnson is a high flying wing with a sweet stroke from the perimeter.
