Palm Beach Titans Joining CBL
September 23, 2010 - Continental Basketball League (CBL) News Release
The Palm Beach Titans have joined the CBL for the 2011 season; it was announced today by Continental Basketball League Commissioner Dennis Truax. The Titans will begin play in April 2011 and play at the Northwood University located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Titans are owned by Avion Brown of West Palm Beach, Florida. Brown is presently the owner of the Palm Beach Mariners, a minor league football franchise playing in the SEFL and an active member of the Palm Beach community as a whole. Heading up the Titans front office will be General Manager Vincent Currie. The Titans have secured the services of local coaching legend Fred Brown as their first Head Coach. Charmaine Stringer has also been hired as the Titans Dance Coordinator for the 2011 season.
Already gearing up for the 2011 season, the Titans have secured the services of Orlando Hall and Carl Jenkins for their inaugural season. The Titans also expect to have point guard Leemire Goldwire on board after his return from Europe in 2011.
"We look forward to continuing the success of the Mariners on the basketball side with the Titans," said Brown. "We feel that we have a great foundation to build upon and the support we have received from the community has shown us that basketball will be successful in Palm Beach. We have a great facility at Northwood University and Coach Brown has already brought three great players to us for the new season. The season can't start soon enough for us here in Palm Beach."
"The Titans join the Flight as we continue to grow our footprint into the state of Florida," said CBL Commissioner Truax. "Avion Brown has shown himself to be an outstanding owner and someone that can help the CBL move forward. He is an owner that gets things done and I know will have his team ready for every contest. We are very lucky to have him in the CBL."
