Reno Bighorns News Release
RENO, Nev.- The Reno Bighorns, NBA Development League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings, will hold their second free-agent tryout camp for the 2010-11 season on Saturday, Oct. 23 in Sacramento, Calif.
Reno's first tryout camp, held last month at the Golden State Warriors practice facility in Oakland, attracted some of the best young talent in the country. The upcoming tryout will be held at the official practice facility of the Sacramento Kings, located adjacent to Arco Arena. The state-of-the-art, $9.1 million, 38,500 square foot facility is regarded as one of the premier practice sites in the NBA.
Players must pre-register for the tryouts by filling out a registration form and sending a check or money order for $150 to the Reno Bighorns office. Registration forms are available online at www.RenoBighorns.com. Participation will be limited to the first 120 players, and there will be a $150 non-refundable registration fee for all athletes. For more information about the tryouts, participants and agents are asked to call (775) 334-7089 or e-mail Zak Basch at zak@renoaces.com.
Top participants at last month's camp included: Gerard Anderson (Cal State Fullerton), Brody Angley (Santa Clara), D'Andre Bell (Georgia Tech), Vince Camper (Cal State LA; Mexico, Poland), Kris Clark (Utah State), Casey Crawford (Colorado), Jordan Lawley (UCSD), Zach Marbury (Rhode Island), Juan Pablo Montas (Catolica Chile), Ian O'Leary (St. Mary's; Spain), Marcus Schroeder (Princeton), John Sharper (San Diego State; Cyprus, Ukraine, Israel), Josh Tarver (Oregon State), Chad Troyer (Pacific; Canada), Giordan Watson (Central Michigan). A number of players from last month's tryout are expected to be invited to Bighorns training camp in November, and several more spots will be up-for-grabs in the upcoming tryout in October.
Last month's camp featured a coaching staff headed by Bighorns Head Coach Eric Musselman, former head coach of the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. He was assisted by former NBA assistant and NCAA Division I head coach Ed Schilling, Richard Morton, who played with the Indiana Pacers and coached the ABA's San Francisco Pilots, former St. Mary's standout Todd Golden, Bighorns video coordinator Tom Bialaszewski and Phil Handy, a former player with the Golden State Warriors.
Musselman again will lead the upcoming tryout camp, and he'll be aided by Bighorns top Assistant Coach Clay Moser, who was formerly the head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and has worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Hornets, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors. Rounding out the staff will be another appearance by Handy, who is regarded as one of the premier coaches for collegiate and professional players across the country.
The Bighorns begin their third season on Saturday, Nov. 20, at home against the Utah Flash. The Bighorns look to build on a successful 2009-10 campaign, which saw them earn the first playoff berth in franchise history.
Reno Bighorns 2010-11 full- and partial-season tickets are available now by calling the Bighorns front office at (775) 284-2NBA, and additional information is available at RenoBighorns.com.
