MAINEiacs Announce Season Opening Week Events

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs are excited to announce the line up of season opening week events as a precursor to the kickoff of the 2010-11 QMJHL season!

On Tuesday, September 7th at 7 PM, the MAINEiacs have been invited to the Lewiston City Council meeting as special guests of Mayor Larry Gilbert! The team will be introduced to the council chamber, and the mayor and councilors will wish the team a successful season as it represents the city in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League!

On Thursday, September 9th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM, bring the entire family and come to Rowe Ford in Auburn for the 'Meet the MAINEiacs Season Kick Off Family Tailgate Party'! The players, coaches and MAINEiacs staff will all be on hand for the event, even Lewy! Thunder Road will be there to supply the music, and a FREE barbeque, while supplies last! A booth will be set up for group ticket information and other inquiries, and some essential items from the MAINEiacs Pro Shop will be available for sale to get you looking great for opening night!

On Friday, September 10th at 7 PM, the MAINEiacs will host former coach Clem Jodoin and the Rimouski Oceanic at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Rimouski brings to town talented NHL draftees Jakub Culek (Ottawa), Gleason Fournier (Detroit), Jerome Gauthier-Leduc (Buffalo) and past QMJHL Rookie of the Year Petr Straka (Columbus) to battle Lewiston in this all important TELUS East divisional battle. Doors open for MAINEiacs season ticket holders at 5:30, and 6:00 for the general public. Thunder Road will be on hand supplying entertainment in the lobby, and there will be face painting for the kids! US Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) will be on hand to drop the ceremonial puck drop prior to the contest. In a tribute to Proud Past and Bright Future, current St. Louis Blues forward David Perron's MAINEiacs jersey will be raffled off, along with recent Philadelphia Flyers' draftee and current MAINEiacs forward Michael Chaput's jersey as well. One Chuck-A-Puck will be FREE to all season ticket holders, and they will also be put into a drawing to win a rare autographed 'Captain's Tee'!

On Saturday, September 11th at 3 PM, it's the first MAINEiacs Fan Tailgate Party of the season! Bring the grills and the entire family for an afternoon of food, friends and fun! There will be plenty of games as well as street hockey nets set up for the kids, as well as live music being performed at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee lower parking lot. MAINEiacs players and staff will be on hand for part of the afternoon prior to preparations for the second game of the opening weekend series with the Oceanic. Inside at the game, it's a Tribute to Service Personnel to mark the anniversary of 9/11. A color guard will raise the flags during the anthems, and a moment of silence will be observed. Doors open for MAINEiacs season ticket holders at 5:30, and 6:00 for the general public.

In conjunction with the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, we invite ALL local businesses to celebrate the new season with us by decorating your office or store-front for everyone to see! We will be awarding TWO season flex tickets to the business with the best display! That means 68 vouchers that can be exchanged at the box office for reserved seating tickets to the game(s) of your choice, based on availability! In addition, two single-game tickets to our Saturday, September 25th game will be awarded to ALL businesses who participate!
