The Mississippi Surge on Thursday announced that 2009-2010 SPHL Defenseman of The Year award winner Steve Weidlich has agreed to terms and will be returning to the Power Plant with the Mississippi Surge for the upcoming season.

"Steve Weidlich brings a diversity of experience and a tough, hardnosed edge and tremendous skill set that has a calming affect to not only our young D-men, but to the rest of our squad," said head coach Steffon Walby.

Weidlich, a native of Spruce Grove Alberta, will be entering his ninth year as a professional and his second year on the coast as a player assistant.
