Bucks Sign Hungary Native Koger

The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Daniel Koger for the 2010-11 season. Koger spent the last three seasons playing in Austria.

Koger (pronounced KOH-ger), a native of Hungary, put up 16 points (7-9=16) and 28 PIM's in 45 games last season with Austria's Szekeshfehervar Alba Vola.

"Daniel is a highly skilled hockey player who has some speed," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He has the ability to put up solid numbers for us this season."

Koger spent the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons playing for Salzburg EC in Austria. In 2008-09 the 6'1'', 160 pound Koger played 18 games and picked up three points (1-2=3), while during the 2007-08 campaign Koger put up 13 points (4-9=13) in 31 games.

From 2006-2009 Koger suited up for the Hungary Junior National team where he played in 24 games and put up 27 points (6-21=27) against international competition. Koger was named the best forward on the 2007 national team.

"We need guys who can score goals for us and Daniel could fit that spot," Ruskowski said. "We look forward to seeing how he plays in Laredo."

In 2006-07 Koger was named the Hungary League's Best Junior Player when he put up 18 points (7-11=18) in 34 games for Fehérvári Titánok.

Koger is the fourth Buck signed this offseason including the second newcomer.
