Real Salt Lake Match Preview: RSL V. L.A. Galaxy

June 8, 2010 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, June 8, 2010) - After a whirlwind trip to the Nation's Capital last week, Real Salt Lake (6-3-2, 20 pts.) settles back at home tomorrow, Wednesday, June 9, for one of the 2010 MLS season's most high-profile contests to date, the second and final MLS Cup 2009 rematch between RSL and the Los Angeles Galaxy (10-0-2, 32 pts.). The contest between the hottest teams in Major League Soccer and the Western Conference's top two sides, presented by Zions Bank, is slated for a 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff at Rio Tinto Stadium, the special night in Sandy concluding with a post-game concert by American Idol winner David Cook.

Tickets for Wednesday's massive Western Conference showdown are still available and can be purchased online at www.RealSaltLake.com and www.RioTintoStadium.com, over the phone at 888-4-RSL-TIX (888-477-5849), and in person at the Rio Tinto Stadium Box Office from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on weekdays and beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT on gameday. Wednesday's contest will not be televised, but fans that can't make it down to Sandy can follow the action live by tuning into RSL's official radio partners - KALL 700 Sports (English), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM and Homero 106.1-FM (Spanish) - or by checking RSL's Official Twitter feed, located at www.Twitter.com/RealSaltLake.

Heading into Wednesday night's match L.A. and RSL sit at #1 and #2 respectively, in the Western Conference standings, and have gotten to the top in entertaining fashion as the League's top-scoring sides, LA's 22 tallies leading RSL by one. The Galaxy has put their lockdown defense on display this year, allowing just three goals during the course of League play - one of which was tallied courtesy of the Claret-and-Cobalt in the Utah side's 2-1 in defeat at The Home Depot Center on April 17. While Los Angeles has not lost a match this year, Real Salt Lake has some streaks of its own intact heading into Wednesday night, as the Utahns will look to continue their club record six-game undefeated streak and 15-game home undefeated run against the stiffest competition yet during both streaks. Both teams will be looking to rest easy with three points in hand following the contest, as this will be the last League game for both sides before MLS takes a two-week hiatus while the FIFA World Cup's Group Stage is played in South Africa.
