Atlanta Dream Introduces "Dream Dads"

ATLANTA, May 3, 2010 - The Atlanta Dream is partnering with celebrity fathers making a positive impact in the community through the team's new "Dream Dads" program.

The program is an extension of the WNBA's Dads & Daughters campaign, which encourages dads and daughters to spend time together while forging a lasting bond through the game of basketball.

The Dream will honor a "Dream Dad" at weekend home games this season.

The participating celebrity father will participate in the interactive in-game entertainment, including a hot shot basketball competition and Daddy-Daughter dance contest.

"We want dads and daughters to embrace Atlanta Dream games as a place they can enhance their relationships and build life long memories.

Study after study shows that girls who are involved in sports are more likely to graduate from college, have higher self-esteem and are more successful in the workplace." said Dream President and COO Toby Wyman.

"We are thrilled to partner with prominent fathers who share our vision and want to help us build the Dream Dads platform."

Roi McCoughtry, the father of Atlanta Dream guard Angel McCoughtry, will kick off the series at the Dream's home opener on May 16.

The team's "Dream Dads" include Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Brian Finneran, Turner Sports Studio Host Ernie Johnson, former Atlanta Braves and Falcons player Brian Jordan, co-host of "The Rude Awakening" on 680 The Fan Christopher Rude, Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Dream play by play announcer Bob Rathbun, Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith, Host of "Morning with Jimmy & Yvonne"on 92.9 DAVE FM Jimmy Baron, former New York Knicks forward Gerald Wilkins and 790 the Zone's "Mayhem in the AM" hosts, Steak Shapiro, Nick Cellini and Chris Dimino.

The Atlanta Dream tips off its third season this summer at Philips Arena, with the home opener slated for Sunday, May 16 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever.
