BILOXI, MS - The Hunstville Havoc grabbed a two-games-to-none lead in the SPHL's Presidents Cup Finals with a 3-2 win over the Mississippi Surge on Thursday evening.

The Surge got on the board first, with Chris Greene sending the puck across to Matt Zultek, who fired it past Huntsville goalie Dan McWhinney at 13:29 of the first period. Matthew Larke tapped home a pass from Chris Greene for a power-play goal and a 2-0 Surge lead at 19:46 of the first period.

Huntsville drew within one at 9:24 of the second, when Brett Liscomb tapped home a pass from Vladimir Hartinger for a power-play.

At 9:04 of the third, Mike MacDonald capitalized on a giveaway and walked in alone on Surge netminder Bill Zaniboni. MacDonald fired into the top corner of the net to tie the game at two. Just 56 seconds later, Justin Rohr banged home a centering pass from Brett Liscomb to give the Havoc a 3-2 lead.

Zaniboni made 23 saves, and the Surge were 1-for-9 on the power play.

The game will be broadcast on 103.1 FM WOSM, presented by Kathy's Frame Works on Ingalls Avenue and Danny Beauchamp's Auto Repair and Wrecker Service on Market Street in Pascagoula along with your Mississippi Surge.
