Ice Players Win Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, IN- The Indiana Ice announced today that forward Antti Roppo and defenseman Anthony Bitetto have been named the USHL Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively for their extraordinary play during last week's three-game stretch.

Roppo helped the Ice earn victories in two of their last three games recording five points (4g, 1a) and a plus-five rating. The Finnish forward posted back-to-back two-goal games against Youngstown and Fargo giving him eight multi-goal games on the season which is a new franchise record. He currently sits second on the team in scoring with 37 total points and leads the team with 24 goals in 45 games played.

For Bitetto, this is the second time he has won the honor in the last three weeks. Last Wednesday against Youngstown, he equaled his own team record by bagging five points (1G, 4A) in the team's 11-1 win. Overall, the second-year blueliner compiled six points (2G, 4A), two game-winning goals and a plus-four rating in two games played last week. He enters this week's action second among all USHL defensemen in scoring with 33 points (10g, 23a).

Roppo, Bitetto and the rest of their teammates look to stay hot when the Ice travels to the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, MI on Friday (2/26) to take on Team USA, with a 7:05 pm. face-off. The team returns home on Sunday (2/28) to again battle Team USA at Conseco Fieldhouse in the 16th Annual "Pack the House Night for Charity." The puck drops at 3:05 pm.
