KEARNEY, Neb. - Tri-City Storm forward Tyler Pistone has committed to play for the Army Black Knights at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY next season.

Pistone, 19-year old from Nanaimo, British Columbia, is a U.S. Citizen and is excited about serving the United States, as well as getting a solid education and furthering his hockey career.

"West Point is the most prestigious Academy or University a person could get into, and I love the opportunity that I get to play hockey, as well as receive the best education in the United States," said Pistone, a Storm Alternate Captain.

Pistone, 6-feet and 180 pounds, is in his first season with the Storm and has five goals and three assists in 40 games.

"It was an easy choice for me, knowing that I wanted to get the best education for the medical field and West Point will help me become a better person all around."

Army is a NCAA Division I college hockey program that competes in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA).

"This will be my last year of junior hockey and I want to go out with a bang," Pistone added. "My goal is to help this team get into the playoffs and help the remaining guys (for the Storm) get their college scholarships as well."

Before joining the Storm, Pistone played for the BCHL's Nanaimo Clippers from 2006-2009. Pistone was a member of the Clippers when they won the BCHL Championship in 2007.

"We are couldn't be happier for Pistone and the way he has played for the Storm this season," said Head Coach/General Manager Drew Schoneck. "Army is getting a great young man, who will do a tremendous job representing the U.S. Military as a student-athlete."
