Several BayBears Receive D-Backs Spring Training Invite

On Tuesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced the invitations of 17 non-roster players including several former BayBears to join the 40-man roster in Tucson for Spring Training. Those that have appeared for the BayBears in the past include pitchers Josh Ellis, Barry Enright, Kyler Newby, Tom Layne, Rodrigo Lopez, Wes Roemer and Matt Torra, catcher Sean Coughlin, infielder Mark Hallberg and outfielder Evan Frey.

Pitchers and catchers will report to Spring Training for the Diamondbacks on February 19. The entire squad will follow on February 23. There are also 16 former BayBears on Arizona's 40-man list which marks an astounding 25 of the 57 players in D-backs camp this season with BayBear ties.

The Mobile BayBears will suit up for the opener of the 2010 season on Thursday, April 8 in Montgomery. Their home opener is on Tuesday, April 14 against the Birmingham Barons.
