Halifax Rainmen News Release
The Halifax Rainmen have added three new players to their roster. Joining the Rainmen are Antwan Dobie, a 6'0" 170-pound guard from Long Island University; Marc Mazur, a 6'10" 265-pound center from the University of Detroit; and DeAndre Thomas, a 6'8" 320-pound center from Robert Morris College. These players will replace Shagari Alleyne and Cory Underwood, who were both released earlier this week; and Jevohn Shepherd, who was placed on the Injured Reserve list with a right hamstring injury.
DeAndre Thomas started his college career at Chipola Junior College, where he finished his sophomore season with 14.9 ppg and 5.8 rpg. After a stint with Indiana University in his junior year, Thomas moved to Robert Morris College in Chicago. He was drafted in the first round by the Rainmen in the 2010 PBL Entry Draft.
Marc Mazur played last season with the Manchester Millrats; in seven games, he averaged 7.3 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game, as well as 1.4 blocked shots per game. He has also played professionally in Chile, Portugal, Mexico, Spain and Lithuania, as well as two seasons in the Continental Basketball Association.
Antwan Dobie is a star of the Harlem Rucker League / EBC, and played for and against many of the same EBC teams as his new teammate, Rainmen forward John Strickland. Dobie played his college ball at Long Island University in Brooklyn, N.Y.
