
Columbus' Hergott Named Sher-Wood Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 12, 2010) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Orrin Hergott of the Columbus Cottonmouths is the Sher-Wood SPHL Player of the Week for January 4-January 10.
Hergott scored three goals, including an overtime game-winner, and added two assists as Columbus picked up a pair of points on the week.
On Wednesday, the Humboldt, Saskatchewan native scored on the power play and assisted on Columbus' two other goals in a 5-3 loss to Mississippi. Hergott and the Cottonmouths rebounded on Friday, capturing a 5-4 overtime decision in the second game of a home-and-home series with the Surge. Hergott scored a shorthanded goal in the first period and capped the night by netting the game-winner just 1:35 into overtime.
The sixth-year pro, who has spent his entire SPHL career with Columbus, currently leads the Cottonmouths in shots and is second in goals, power play goals, game-winning goals and shorthanded goals. Hergott also led the Cottonmouths during the playoffs last season, scoring five goals in five games.
