Indiana Ice News Release

The Indiana Ice announced today that they have signed an extension offered by the Indiana State Fairgrounds through the 2010-2011 season.

The current USHL franchise is in their sixth season and has grown to be one of the premier USHL franchises since 2004. The Ice has made the playoffs in the first five years and reached their goal of the Clark Cup last year defeating the Fargo Force in four games.

"We hope to continue our winning ways now and in the future here at Pepsi Coliseum." said Indiana Ice President & CEO Paul Skjodt. "We are encouraged with the progress our organization has made especially over the last two years, while in a very difficult economic climate for all. The USHL and our Indiana Ice staff have built a product and event that every family in this state can enjoy at a very affordable price point. Our loyal fans and partners have stuck with us and we hope to continue to build the brand for many years to come in this city and around the state."

The Indiana Ice is hosting the 2010 USHL All-Star Game on January 26th in concert with the Indiana State Fairgrounds at Pepsi Coliseum.

"The night should be a great event in honoring both the history of Pepsi Coliseum and will include an Alumni Game with former Indianapolis Ice, Indianapolis Checkers and Indianapolis Racers players," said Skjodt.

During the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, the Ice was an impressive 44-12-4 at home and held the best overall winning percentage in the league with a 78-34-8 clip (.683). Indiana was the 2007-08 East Division Champions and the 2008-09 Clark Cup Champions.

The defending champion Ice is off to another solid start in 2009-10 as the club is currently second in the USHL's East Division with a 14-11-1 record and is 7-4-0 on home ice.

"We are excited about the extension," said Ice head coach Jeff Blashill. "The Pepsi Coliseum is a historic venue and we have had great success in this building."
