
Mallards Deal For Defenseman Palmer

MOLINE, Ill. (November 28, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that they have acquired defenseman Ryan Palmer from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for cash considerations.
Palmer, 26, scored one goal and picked up one assist while posting a plus/minus rating of +9 in 13 games with the Lumberjacks this season. The Groton, Massachusetts, native scored his only goal so far this season at the i wireless Center against the Mallards on November 7 in a 4-3 Lumberjack overtime win over Quad City.
The 6' 3", 215-pound Palmer skated in the Central Hockey League for three years before joining the Lumberjacks this season. Palmer spent the bulk of his time in the CHL with the Odessa Jackalopes after brief stints with the Colorado Eagles and Laredo Bucks. Last season Palmer scored once and collected nine points in 42 games with the Jackalopes. Over three-plus pro seasons Palmer has totaled five goals and 35 points in 165 career games.
Before turning pro Palmer played college hockey at the University of Connecticut for two seasons. He produced five goals and 14 points in 63 career games as a Husky.
The Mallards return to action on home ice tonight against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans ages 12-and-under through the doors for tonight's game will receive free kids' Chris Lipsett bobblehead dolls courtesy of Jumer's Casino. In addition, $2 12-ounce drafts will be available at i wireless Center concession stands during the game.
