
IceGators' Smith Named SPHL Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 3, 2009) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Danny Smith of the Louisiana IceGators has been selected the SPHL Player of the Week for October 26-November 1.
The 28-year-old scored a shorthanded goal and added four assists as Louisiana captured their first two wins of the season.
Smith assisted on two goals, including the game-winner in a 3-2 decision Friday over previously unbeaten Pensacola. On Saturday, the native of Calgary, Alberta netted his first goal of the season, a shorthanded tally in the second period, as the IceGators avenged their opening night defeat and topped Mississippi 5-4 in a shootout. Smith assisted on two other goals, including the Daryl Moore's game-tying goal with just 1:18 left on regulation.
