Derek McDaid's wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning allowed 2B Jeff LaHair to score the winning run from third base and carry the Worcester Tornadoes to an 8-7 win over the Quebec Capitales. With the win, the Tornadoes lead the best-of-five championship series, 1-0. 3B Chris Colabello led the Worcester offense going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI. Tornadoes C Yohanny Valera chipped in with two hits of his own and scored a run. Worcester reliever Anthony Sullivan allowed a walk while fanning one in an inning of work to pick up his first victory of the postseason. For Quebec in the losing effort, SS Ivan Naccarata went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI while CF Goef Tomlinson had a two-hit night with a run scored and two RBI. Game two of the championship series is Wednesday night with Michel Simard going for Quebec while Worcester counters with Chris Farley.
