MAINEiacs Annouce Hockey Operations Staff

July 14, 2009 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Lewiston MAINEiacs

LEWISTON, ME -- The Lewiston MAINEiacs have announced several changes to the hockey operations staff for the 2009-2010 season. Assistant Coach Jeff Guay, will not return next season, while Jamie Dumont assumes the role of Assistant Coach, and Adam Nicholas has been named Skating Coach. Tom Bourdon returns to Lewiston as the team's Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager.

MAINEiacs assistant coach Jeff Guay requested and was granted a leave of absence from his responsibilities as assistant coach with the Lewiston MAINEiacs. Guay has been an assistant coach with the team for the past six years.

"I felt that it would be good for me to step aside and allow myself some personal time," said Guay. "It has been an exciting period in my life and I enjoyed growing with the team, both personally and professionally."

Head Coach and team President Don MacAdam understands coach Guay's need for personal time. "This is a challenging profession and taking a break will allow Jeff to come back to coaching energized and with a renewed focus."

Jamie Dumont who was born in Lewiston, joins the MAINEiacs after serving the past two seasons coaching at HC Bolzano in the Italy Serie A-League. He helped guide the team to consecutive A-Reebok Cup National Championships, as well as becoming the Italian Cup Super Champions. He has a lengthy coaching resume which includes stops at Bowling Green State University and Bowdoin College.

Adam Nicholas comes to Lewiston as the team's Skating Coach. He has worked closely with Toronto Maple Leafs skating instructor Graeme Townshend. Adam also has worked with the San Jose Sharks in a similar role.

Goaltending coach Reg Bourcier will return for a third season with the MAINEiacs. Bourcier played his college hockey as a goaltender for the UNB Varsity Reds.

Both Nicholas and Bourcier will be running several hockey clinics to local youth hockey groups throughout the season.

Tom Bourdon will return as the team's head athletic therapist and equipment manager, a role he held for five seasons from 2003 to 2008.

"We are delighted to have someone with Tom's experience back with the team," said MacAdam. "His experience at the AHL level will greatly benefit our players and the team overall"

Bourdon spent last season as the head athletic therapist for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League. In addition, he assisted in training duties during the Boston Bruins training camp.

"It is great to back in Lewiston, this is where home is," said Bourdon. "The MAINEiacs are a first class organization, and I look forward to the new experiences that lie ahead."

Bourdon, a native of Adams, Massachusetts, graduated from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a concentration in sports medicine. From 2001-2003 Bourdon was a Certified Athletic Trainer with HealthSouth in Portland.
