Cannons Return Home for Rematch Against Chicago Machine on Saturday

BOSTON, MA - Friday, June 12, 2009 - The Boston Cannons (1-3) of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) will look for their first home win when they take on the Chicago Machine (1-3) at their home field of Harvard Stadium on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 PM.

CANNONS VS. CHICAGO IN 2009: The Cannons earned their first win of the 2009 season, 16-14, against the Chicago Machine in front of 4,329 fans at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, May 30. Midfielder Paul Rabil earned Bud Light MVP honors in the game and MLL's Offensive Player of the Week for his six point performance, including three goals, one two-point goal and an assist. Goalie Mike Levin made 15 saves on the 28 shots he faced to earn the win in his first start as a Cannon.

CANNONS' LAST GAME (JUNE 5 AT LONG ISLAND): The Cannons were defeated by a score of 14-13, in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Long Island Lizards in front of 2,158 fans at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium on Friday, June 5. The game marked the fourth consecutive match-up between the two teams that has been decided by just one goal. Lizards midfielder Chris Fiore earned the Bud Light MVP after netting four goals in the game, including the game-winner in overtime. Attackman Sean Morris led the Cannons in scoring with four goals and two assists.

CHICAGO'S LAST GAME (JUNE 7 VS. DENVER): Offering some payback for their season-opening loss, the Denver Outlaws (3-1) routed the Chicago Machine, 15-11 in their own stadium at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois on June 7. Outlaws Midfielders Brian Langtry and Josh Sims exploded for three goals each to lead the team in scoring, with Langtry burying two 2-pointers to pace the offense. Attackman Kevin Leveille led the Machine with three goals.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: Midfielder Matt Poskay, the 2008 Cannons MVP, is expected to return to action in tomorrow night's match-up after missing the first four games of the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List...Midfielder Brett Garber could also return to the team after being activated from the Injured Reserve List on Friday...Goalie Mike Levin is ranked as the second-best goalie in the league with a 12.32 goals-against average heading into the weekend...Each of the Cannons' three losses this season have been decided by just one goal...With 15 points so far this season, attackman Sean Morris sits tied for third overall in league scoring...In the history of the Cannons, the team has never lost three consecutive home games...The Cannons have a record of 18-5 all-time during the month of June.
