Boston Cannons Announce Duffy As New Assistant Coach

BOSTON, MA - Thursday, April 23, 2009 - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) have named Waltham High School Boy's Lacrosse Head Coach Steve Duffy as the new Cannons Assistant Coach, Cannons Vice President and General Manager Mark Kastrud announced today.
"I'm very excited to have Coach Duffy on board for 2009," said Cannons Head Coach Bill Daye. "Duff brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our staff and we're really looking forward to his contributions, both on and off the field."
Duffy, a native of Waltham, Massachusetts, has dedicated the last 18 years to the town's high school boys lacrosse program. In 2001 and 2005, he led his team to the state semi-finals and state finals, respectively. In the same seasons, he was also honored as the Metro West Coach of the Year.
As an extremely active participant in the lacrosse community, much of Duffy's work has focused on helping young players grow. In 1994, he founded the Waltham Youth Lacrosse program to help mold the next generation of players in the town. In addition, Duffy has been the Director of the Coaches' Clinic for the Eastern Massachusetts Lacrosse Coaches Association (EMLCA) since 1997.
The 2009 Cannons home opener is scheduled for Saturday, May 16 against the Long Island Lizards at Harvard Stadium at 7:00 PM, with individual game tickets starting at $15.
