New Jersey Ironmen News Release

Newark, N.J. (Thursday, January 8, 2009) - The New Jersey Ironmen made official today the signing of Polish defender David Topolski, who is set to join the club for a two-game set at Prudential Center this weekend. In addition to a 10-year professional outdoor career in Poland, Topolski also has experience playing indoors in Cleveland under Ironmen Head Coach Omid Namazi.

"David is a versatile player, and he can play any position on the field," Namazi commented on the newest member of the Ironmen. "He is a natural forward who has been playing as a left back the last 4-5 years, and I look for him to be a quarterback out of the back in terms of distributing the ball."

Toploski first played alongside Namazi as a teammate for the Cleveland Force during the 2003-04 season before the current Ironmen headman was promoted to head coach of the Force.

"Omid was very professional as a player and always set a good example on the field," Topolski recollected. "He has a great understanding for the game, and he gave me a lot of tips on how to transition from outdoor to indoor. The main thing I remember about Omid as a teammate and a coach is that he always wanted to win."

Topolski was born in Pittsburgh and is the son of a Polish soccer coach. He has turned in a very successful outdoor career playing in Poland, beginning in 1999 for SKP Slupca and most recently with Tur Turek this past season in the Polish First League. Over the time of his professional career, he has also played for the Polish National Team at the U-17, U-18 and U-21 level.

Topolski joins a skillful crew of players with the Ironmen, and he commented on the excitement that comes with playing on a squad with such talent.

"It's a great thing to be able to join such a good team," he stated. "You have to step up your game when you have talent all around you. Everyday, you can improve, and that is exciting."

The Ironmen return to the friendly confines of Prudential Center this weekend for a pair of match-ups in Newark. The team will host the Storm on Friday, January 9th, at 7:30 p.m. before playing host to the Milwaukee Wave on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Performing the role of honorary captain for New Jersey on Friday night will be former NASL and MISL standout goalkeeper Shep Messing.

The Ironmen provide fun and affordable family entertainment with tickets starting at only $10! Don't miss out on the action! Call 1-800-IRONMEN today!
