Inaugural XSL training camps under way

Six months of challenge and uncertainty finally ended Monday, when Xtreme Soccer League teams opened two-week training camps in preparation for the league's first season, opening Dec. 13 in Milwaukee. Coaches continue to flesh out their 15-man rosters, as the off-season brought dramatic changes to some rosters. Former MISL MVP Neto is in New Jersey, and MISL All-Rookie selection J.P. Rodrigues (Orlando) is now with the Milwaukee Wave.

XSL joins US Soccer Federation

Lending credibility and support to the new direction of Xtreme soccer, the United States Soccer Federation accepted the XSL for provisional membership this week.

"The growth and development of opportunities for participants and spectators alike is a key to our current and future success, and there is no greater partner to have in this pursuit than the USSF," said XSL Commissioner Brian Loftin.

Leite's season ends in first workout

Brazilian standout Marcio Leite of Milwaukee was the first XSL player signed this summer, owing to both his skill and popularity. But in the first practice of the season on Dec. 1, the 24-year-old suffered a torn ACL and will be lost for the season.

All games streamed on the web

The XSL introduces a first to indoor soccer this season by offering live, streaming broadband broadcasts of all 40 league games via B2 Networks. Each game will be shot with a minimum of 3 cameras and archived to create a history of the sport that has long been lacking.
