Scottsdale needed all seven runs it scored in the top of the ninth to hold on and defeat the Saguaros in Peoria ... Scorpions 1B Mark Trumbo (LAA) led the offensive charge, going 4-for-6 with his first home run and four RBI ... SS Drew Sutton (HOU) added three RBI with a three-hit day ... Sags' DH Josh Thole (NYM) went 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 1 home run, and 4 RBI ... five combined home runs hit.

Surprise Rafters 9, Peoria Javelinas 6 - WP: Hayes (KC) (2-0, 5.40), LP: Fisher (CIN) (0-1, 9.39), SV: Laughter (TEX) (1)

Javelinas matched the Rafters in hits (13) but a five-run eighth secured the victory for the Rafters on Saturday afternoon ... six Javelinas doubled-Ryne Hughes (TB), Austin Jackson (NYY), Kevin Russo (NYY), Chris Valaika (CIN), Drew Stubbs (CIN), and Justin Smoak (TEX) ... Jackson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored ... Blake Davis (BAL) went 4-for-5 with three RBI ... Stephen Head (CLE) walked three times and scored two runs.

Mesa pitching struck out 15 and allowed only four hits ... Casper Wells (DET) returned to the lineup after missing 10 games, going 2-for-4 with a double ... Jeff Larish (DET) homered off Kyle Ginley (TOR) in the fourth inning ... Dustin Martin (MIN) accounted for 3-of-4 of the Desert Dogs hits as well as their only run ... Martin was a triple away from the cycle.

2008 AFL Tidbits

- The suspended game between the Phoenix Desert Dogs and Scottsdale Scorpions on Friday, November 7 will resume at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, November 12 at Scottsdale Stadium.

- Jimmy Rollins, shortstop for the 2008 World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies, was inducted into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame on Wednesday, November 5 at Scottsdale Stadium prior to the regularly-scheduled game.

- Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame on Friday, October 17 at Scottsdale Stadium.

- The AFL held its second annual Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night at Scottsdale Stadium on Friday, October 31. The event raised $15,000 for the foundation.

- Former major league umpire Rich Garcia was honored as the 2008 recipient of the Arizona Fall League's Roland Hemond Award prior to the Rising Stars Game on Friday, October 24 at Surprise Stadium.
