Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL - Hank Aaron's Childhood home will begin its journey home to Hank Aaron Stadium on Friday, October 24th. With the help of Hinkle Home Movers and the City of Mobile, the Mobile BayBears - AA affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks - will relocate the home from the Toulminville area to its new home in GasLight Park next to Hank Aaron Stadium. Weather permitting, the home should make the roughly six mile journey in one day. The move will begin approximately at 6am and should arrive at the Hank at 3pm.
Once at the stadium, the home will be restored and converted to the Hank Aaron Museum and Learning Center honoring the Mobile baseball legend and his family, his career and his contributions to America's youth after his playing days were over. The museum is scheduled to open its doors to the public at the beginning of the 2009 baseball season. 2009 will also mark Hank Aaron's year long, 75th birthday celebration.
