Rimouski Sinks the MAINEiacs 3-1

Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release


Lewiston, ME - The Rimouski Oceanic defeated the Lewiston MAINEiacs 3-1 on Wednesday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. With the loss the MAINEiacs remain in 4th place in the Telus Central division, and the Oceanic retain the second spot in the Telus Eastern Division.

The MAINEiacs started out the first period with a goal by Garrett Clarke assisted by Steeven Jacques at 13:32 into the period. In the second Rimouski doubled up on the MAINEiacs with goals by Phiippe Cornet and Patrice Cormier. During the third the MAINEiacs were given many chances including a 5 minute power play, but could not capitalize on the opportunities. During the final minutes of the period, despite a 6 on 4 advantage for Lewiston, Rimouski forward Keven Velleux waffled a shot from behind the blue line for an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Oceanic.

MAINEiacs net minder Peter Delmas suffered the loss for Lewiston, and Maxim Gougeon took the win for Rimouski. The MAINEiacs outshot the Oceanic 19 to 22 on the night. Three stars honors were awarded to 1) Philippe Cornet (RIM), 2) Garrett Clarke (LEW), and 3) Maxim Gougeon(RIM).

The MAINEiacs are back home at the Colisee on Friday night for a match-up against the Halifax Mooseheads. Game time is at 7:00 PM.
