
CFL names players of the month

Toronto, ON - (October 2, 2008) - Anthony Calvillo, Cam Wake, Dominique Dorsey and Ben Cahoon were named the CFL's top players for the month of September, the Canadian Football League announced today.
Players of the Month are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
QB - Anthony Calvillo - Montreal Alouettes
Montreal Alouettes (3-1)
Highlights / Key Stats:
Anthony Calvillo continued his resurgent season in September, completing 116 of 166 passes for a 70% completion rate. He threw for an average of 345 yards per game and had 10 touchdown passes with only four interceptions while leading the Alouettes to a 3-1 record.
On the season Calvillo has completed 344 of 507 passes for 4,258 yards and 31 touchdowns with only nine interceptions. He leads the league with a 106.6 passer efficiency rating. Calvillo has won two player of the week awards this season and this is his first player of the month award.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
DE - Cam Wake - B.C. Lions

Highlights / Key Stats:
Cam Wake improved on his league leading sack total in the month of September as he compiled a nine sacks and 25 tackles in four games. Wake was named defensive player of the week twice in the month, once for a seven tackle, four sack performance and a second time for a nine tackle, three sack performance.
Cam Wake has 56 tackles, 18 sacks and a forced fumble in 2008. His 18 sacks are double the next highest total in the league and he is currently chasing James "Quick" Parker's record of 26.5 sacks in a season. Wake has won three player of the week awards and this is his second player of the month award.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE MONTH
KR/PR - Dominique Dorsey - Toronto Argonauts

Highlights / Key Stats:
Dominique Dorsey racked up an incredible 1,038 combined yards in September, including 803 on special teams. Dorsey had 557 kick return yards including a touchdown, 179 punt return yards and 67 missed field goal yards. He averaged 250 special teams yards in the first three games of September before suffering an injury part-way through the fourth contest.
Dominique Dorsey has 2,892 combined yards including 2,196 on special teams. He was on pace to break the single season record of 3,840 combined yards set by Michael "Pinball" Clemons before the injury. Dorsey leads the league with 752 punt return yards and is second with 1,257 kick return yards. He has won four player of the week awards this season and this is his second player of the month award.

SB - Ben Cahoon - Montreal Alouettes

Highlights / Key Stats:
Ben Cahoon averaged 8.5 receptions and 100 yards per game in the month of September as the Alouettes went 3-1. Cahoon never had less than six catches or ninety yards in the month as he continues to be one of the most consistent receivers in the league.
Ben Cahoon has 70 catches for 825 yards and four touchdowns this season. He has won one player of the week award and this is his first player of the month award.
