Everett AquaSox News Release
Everett, WA - The Everett AquaSox Baseball Club announced today that they have signed a two-year contract with the Seattle Mariners to extend their Player Development Contract (PDC). The agreement ensures that the AquaSox will be a Mariner affiliate through the 2010 season. Currently, the team is in the final year of a two-year contract with the Mariners.
"We are very happy about the two-year extension of our Player Development Contract with the Seattle Mariners," offered AquaSox General Manager Brian Sloan. "Our affiliation with the Seattle Mariners is definitely the most important business relationship we have. It has been very exciting to see some of the Mariners stars of today start their careers in Everett, such as Felix Hernandez, J.J. Putz, Jose Lopez, Jeff Clement, Bryan LaHair and Willie Bloomquist."
The AquaSox have been an affiliate of the Mariners since the 1995 season. The relationship between the parties has been exceptional. Both the AquaSox and the Mariners were eager to renew the existing contract.
"We are pleased to be able to extend our working agreement with the AquaSox for two more years," Seattle Mariners Director of Player Development Greg Hunter said. "Everett has played a vital role in our player development system for the past 14 years and we feel fortunate that our affiliation has now been extended through 2010."
