Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LAKE ELSINORE, CA) - The JetHawks had to rally three times Friday night against Lake Elsinore, but none was sweeter than the last. Chih-Hsien Chiang drove a pinch hit three-run homer over the right field wall in the top of the ninth inning to take the JetHawks from two down to one up and lead them to a 9-8 over the Storm. The JetHawks have won two straight over the Storm and have won four of the five games between the two teams in Lake Elsinore.

After the Lancaster took a 2-0 advantage in the third inning, they found themselves playing catch up. They used an Argenis Diaz double and an error to tie the game at three in the fifth inning. Down by three in the sixth inning, the JetHawks hit a pair of home runs. Jorge Jimenez hit his first long ball since May 1, then Jon Still hit a two-run blast to tie the game again.

The Storm added two runs of their own in the sixth to take the lead for the third time, and held the 8-6 advantage until the ninth. Aaron Reza notched his second hit of the game and Diaz his third, including two doubles, to set up the big hit. Chih-Hsien Chiang, batting for Matt Sheely, parked the ball over the right field fence for a three-run homer. Chiang is now 5-6 as a pinch hitter over the last two seasons.

Diaz had his second straight big game with three hits. Jimenez had two hits and drove in two runs. Reza and Jason Place each had two singles. Jason Blackey earned the win (4-3) with two scoreless innings of relief.
