Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The Lancaster JetHawks are showing no signs of being intimidated by the team that came into the series with the best record in the California League, the Stockton Ports. The JetHawks got outstanding pitching from starter Tony Bajoczky and two relievers, and plenty of clutch offense in a 6-2 win over the Ports, their second straight win in the series.

For the first time this homestand, the JetHawks were the first team on the scoreboard. Zak Farkes hit his first homer since April 10, a two-run shot to give Lancaster a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Tony Bajoczky held that lead until the fifth. Bajoczky allowed one run, then an error helped the Ports to a second run. The game was tied 2-2 when Bajoczky left the game after five strong innings.

Jason Blackey entered in relief and pitched three scoreless innings. Blackey's work gave time for the JetHawks offense to do theirs. Aaron Reza put Lancaster up for good with a solo home run in the sixth inning, and the offense pulled away in the eighth. With one out, Chih-Hsien Chiang walked. Farkes, Argenis Diaz, and Reza all singled to bring home two runs. Jason Place added a RBI double to put Lancaster up by four. Blake Maxwell's scoreless inning of relief sealed the win for the JetHawks.

Farkes and Reza each had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI in the win. Diaz, playing in his first game since the birth of his son in Venezuela earlier this week, returned with two hits and a run driven in.

The JetHawks will conclude an eight game homestand Saturday evening in Lancaster against Stockton. Adam Mills (4-3) starts for Lancaster while the Ports counter with Trevor Cahill (5-1). The game begins at 5 PM. The pre-game show on Magic 1340 AM and online at www.JetHawks.com will begin at 4:45.
