
The Impact Unveils The Details Surrounding Its Home Opener At Saputo Stadium

MONTREAL - Less than two weeks before Saputo Stadium's historical opening May 19, at 3 pm against the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Montreal Impact announced, Wednesday, some of the activities surrounding its inaugural game. For the home opener, doors will exceptionally open at 12:30 pm and fans will be treated to a special pre-game show, starring singer Gregory Charles and his musicians, at 2 pm.
The day before, soccer fans are invited to visit their new stadium, Sunday, May 18, from 1 pm to 4 pm, at the Saputo Stadium Open House Day, presented by Metro.
Fans will be able to visit the brand new facility and will also be able to attend a celebrity all-star game at 2 pm, notably featuring former sprinter Bruny Surin; former speed-skater and Olympic champion Nathalie Lambert; Pierre-François Legendre and Rémi Pierre Paquin, from the television show "Les Invincibles"; radio host Paul Houde; Team Canada goalkeeper Kim St-Pierre; singer Jean-François Breault; singer Jacynthe; actress Karine Vanasse, as well as former Impact players, Patrick Diotte and John Limniatis.
"It's a very special moment for all of us," said Joey Saputo, President of the Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium. "After many years of hard work, of dreams and passion, we are extremely proud to inaugurate the new home of soccer in Quebec. It's a special day, since the team is training for the first time on the field of the new stadium."
"We are inviting the population to come see their new stadium with their family at our open house," said Richard Legendre, Executive Vice President of the Montreal Impact and Saputo Stadium. "Impact soccer is by far the most accessible sport in Montreal and to that effect, we're offering this activity free of charge."
TICKET SALES
As of today, 4,500 season tickets have been sold, which represents a 125% increase from last season's 2,000 season tickets sold at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
The club also announced it will release approximately 1,000 individual tickets for the home opener, which will be on sale as of Monday, May 12, at 9 am.
