Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks had plenty of chances to score runs Saturday night. They just couldn't take advantage. The offense went 0-13 with runners in scoring position, leaving runners on base in every frame except for the first. Meanwhile, Lake Elsinore made the most of things when they got runners on as they beat the JetHawks 11-1 in front of 1,818 fans at Clear Channel Stadium.

The Storm chased off JetHawks starter Jaymie Russ by scoring five runs in the first three innings. The JetHawks looked like they were going to stay close or even take their own lead in the second. Jon Still had tied the game with his minor league leading fifth homer of the season, then Zak Farkes and Jorge Jimenez singled. But in a tone setting ending to the inning, Matt Sheely grounded out and Argenis Diaz grounded into a double play.

Storm defenders turned three double plays as the JetHawks got hits but no runs in each inning the rest of the game. Their best chance to get close came in the seventh inning. Down 5-1, Sheely and Diaz opened the inning with singles. But the Storm retired the next three batters to squelch the opportunity. They added six more runs in the eighth inning to pull away.

The JetHawks continue the homestand Sunday afternoon against Lake Elsinore. Travis Beazley (0-1) will start for Lancaster against the Storm's Brooks Dunn (0-1). The game starts at 2:00 with the pre-game show on Magic 1340 and www.JetHawks.com beginning at 1:45.

The JetHawks home opener for the 2008 season at Clear Channel Stadium takes place on April 10 against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tremendous ticket packages starting at only $56 are available for purchase now by calling 661.726.5400.
